Our strategy

Our strategy sets out how Twins Trust will work with families, professionals and partners to improve life for twins, triplets or more over the next three years.

5 min read

Twins Trust is the UK charity dedicated to twins, triplets or more and their families.

We began by supporting a network of local clubs at a time when families with multiples were largely overlooked by services and policy. Families created their own support, shared information and felt less alone.

Today, we help families across the UK to feel equipped and confident to meet the challenges that come with having twins or triplets. We work with families, volunteers, clinicians, researchers and partner organisations to improve care, influence policy and build a strong, connected community.

Our vision

A world where twins, triplets or more, and their families, feel supported, understood and connected, and where their needs are recognised in care, policy and research.

The world our community faces today

Many families with twins, triplets or more still feel misunderstood, under-supported and isolated.

Rates of stillbirth and neonatal death remain too high, with the maternity system under significant strain. Parents report high levels of anxiety and low mood, especially in the early years. Childcare costs can make it hard to stay in work, affecting family finances and wellbeing. Professionals may struggle to find the time and resources to provide the necessary specialist care.

Our strategy responds to this reality and focuses our effort where we can make the greatest difference together.

Our mission

  • Inform, support and empower families with twins, triplets or more, and the children themselves, throughout their lives

  • Build and sustain strong connections between families, the multiples community and Twins Trust

  • Ensure the specific needs of multiple birth families are understood by professionals and reflected in policy, care standards, workplace practice and research

Our values

  • Passionate: we care deeply about families with twins, triplets or more

  • Empowering: we give families information, tools and confidence to make informed choices

  • Impactful: we focus on work that makes a clear, measurable difference

Our strategic aims

During our 2026-28 strategic period, we'll focus on four connected aims:

  • Empower families to feel informed, supported and connected
  • Inform professionals so they can provide safe, high-quality care
  • Champion change so policy and practice reflect the needs of multiple birth families
  • Thrive as a sustainable, values-driven charity with the resources to deliver our mission

Empower families

We want every family with twins, triplets or more to feel informed, supported, confident and connected at every stage. We will:

  • Offer clear, evidence-based information from pregnancy through birth, childhood and adulthood
  • Provide emotional and practical support, including specialist help after loss or bereavement
  • Create welcoming ways for families to connect with each other and with Twins Trust

Inform professionals

We want healthcare and other professionals to have the knowledge and networks they need to support multiple birth families well. We will:

  • Provide high-quality education and CPD on multiple pregnancy, birth and postnatal care
  • Promote consistent use of evidence-based guidelines to improve safety and outcomes
  • Grow professional networks and awareness of how Twins Trust can support teams and families

Champion change

We want decision-makers to understand the realities of life with twins, triplets or more and to act on what they hear. We will:

  • Influence national, regional and local policy to reduce stillbirth and neonatal death in multiple pregnancies
  • Campaign for fair leave, childcare and workplace policies that reflect the realities of multiple birth families
  • Use research, data and lived experience so families' voices shape public debate and local decisions

Thrive as an organisation

We want Twins Trust to be sustainable, resilient and ready for the future, with the right structure, systems and culture. We will:

  • Build clear pathways for people to engage with us as service users, members, volunteers, donors or campaigners
  • Invest in digital infrastructure that supports high-quality services, personalised membership and good use of data
  • Maintain robust financial management, governance and risk processes that meet all legal and regulatory requirements
  • Build a values-driven, high-performing team of staff and volunteers with fair pay, clear roles and good support

Working together

This strategy belongs to our whole community. By listening carefully, sharing lived experience and working in partnership, we can make a lasting difference for every family with twins, triplets or more.
