All families should have access to the right legal and financial support to ensure their children's needs are addressed.

Through our work, we understand that if one or more of your children live with a disability or have suffered from a serious injury or illness, the emotional and physical impact can be life changing. We can help you access the best medical care, rehabilitation and support long after your claim has settled too.

We've supported families for many years - we understand how concerned you may be about the level of care and support your children will have or are currently receiving and we can offer help and advice every step of the way.

Our medical negligence services

Multiple pregnancies are high risk and specialist care is needed to ensure safe outcomes for expectant parents and children. Complications can arise in multiple pregnancies, including a lack of oxygen at birth leading to Cerebral Palsy, Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome and Retinopathy of Prematurity, to name just a few.

Tragically, sometimes failings in care can lead to serious injury or death. We have extensive experience representing families affected by negligent maternity and neonatal care, including sensitively but robustly supporting families through inquests to help them obtain answers.

Although pursuing a legal claim cannot turn the clock back, it can help to secure a child’s future by funding specialist rehabilitation, care and long‑term support.

I am so glad I chose Irwin Mitchell to represent my son over a claim for a brain injury. It is a very arduous ongoing process due to the complex nature of the claim but Irwin Mitchell have completely understood the difficulties of the case and advised me accordingly. They have access to the best expert witnesses and this is essential for success of the claim.

Representing families

Our specialist lawyers have represented families in a number of cases involving twins and triplets where failures in antenatal, intrapartum or neonatal care led to serious injury or death.

These cases have included failures to identify complications early, delays in intervention and inadequate monitoring during labour. Through careful investigation and expert evidence, we have helped families secure answers, accountability and financial support for future care needs.

Brilliant service from start to finish. Richard Kayser is a safe pair of hands for even the most complex medical cases.
