Supermarkets should provide enough double and triple shopping trollies, so shopping is easier and less stressful for families with twins, triplets or more. You can help make this change happen.
You can help by filling in our map. This will help other families with twins, triplets or more understand what facilities are available locally.
It will also help us recognise supermarkets that are doing well and speak to those doing less well, showing how they can improve their double and triple trolley options.
Tell us about your area
Visit your local supermarkets and tell us how many double and triple trolleys they have. If you don't know the exact number, an estimate is fine.
Use our simple form to share the information quickly and easily.
Check the map
We'll add what you tell us to our map. This shows where supermarkets don't yet have suitable trolleys and helps you find ones that do.
Sharing your local information will help build a clearer picture for families with twins, triplets or more.
After you've added to our map, there are other ways you can help us make change happen:
- You can send us photos of double and triple trolleys at your local supermarkets, helping us build a UK-wide picture of what's available [link to photo consent form]
- You can also speak to the manager at your local supermarket and ask them to consider adding double and triple trolleys, explaining how this would support families with twins, triplets or more and the benefits for the store
— Pause for thoughFamilies miss out when supermarkets don’t provide enough double and triple trolleys. Supermarkets miss out too, because families with twins, triplets or more often spend more. Suitable trolleys can mean more customer loyalty and more revenue.
We want:
Every supermarket to provide enough double and triple shopping trolleys for families with twins, triplets or more.
When supermarkets meet these needs, shopping can feel less stressful. It can also build loyalty, encourage repeat visits and increase spending.
Other accessibility changes we're calling for
These changes would make everyday trips more manageable for families with twins, triplets or more:
- Better parent and child parking closer to entrances, with more spaces and stronger enforcement so bays are used by families who need them. In future, we’d also like to see designated 'multiples' bays with extra width for wider buggies and more room to manoeuvre
- Baby changing and feeding facilities that work for multiples, including feeding rooms with spacious, comfortable seating for tandem feeding and changing spaces that can fit a double buggy inside. Where possible, changing rooms should be separate from toilets for hygiene and ease of use
- Easier building access for parents using a double buggy, including lifts where possible and the option of ground-floor appointments in places like medical settings. When venues ask prams to be left outside, there should be practical support so families can move around safely inside
Your experience can help drive change
Real change is only possible when the voices of families with twins, triplets or more are heard. Help drive the changes that families need now and in the future: share your story or talk to us about our campaigning work.
