Reforming childcare

High quality early education and childcare gives children foundations for lifelong success. We want childcare policy and provision to reflect the realities of caring for twins.

Childcare costs are still a major challenge for parents of twins, triplets or more. For many families, the numbers don't add up and work stops being possible.

The early education and childcare system is underfunded, uneven and hard to access. This can hit families with twins especially hard.

We're calling on the UK government to rescue and reform the childcare sector.

We want:

  • Affordable, inclusive, high-quality places for every child guaranteed

  • Fair, sustainable funding for all providers

  • A long-term early years workforce strategy with proper investment

We've joined forces with other charities and groups through the Early Education and Childcare Coalition. Together, we're working so no parent feels forced to choose between work and quality care for their children.

Childcare support also varies across the UK. Scotland and Northern Ireland have different offers and don't include the newer proposals being discussed in England and Wales. That gap isn't fair, so we're pushing for change across the whole UK.
