Fathers' experiences and needs in the early years

Researchers explore how dads of twins, triplets or more experience the early years, what support helps most and how services can better meet dads' needs.

Researchers at the Elizabeth Bryan Multiple Births Centre are exploring the experiences of dads of twins, triplets or more in the early years. They want to understand how dads feel about their role and what support helps most.

The study includes interviews with dads who are peer supporters, a survey about dads' experiences and an exploration of why some dads look for further support. The team hopes this work will help address the lack of research in this area, identify support needs and improve the support available.

The Elizabeth Bryan Multiple Births Centre also hosts a parent involvement group called 'Family Voices'. It gives parents, grandparents and carers of multiples a way to share what matters to them, helping shape positive changes for multiple birth families. If you'd like to take part, you can sign up to the group online.
